Topanga, California – Where the Coast Turns Wild
Just north of Santa Monica, the shoreline at Topanga grows rugged and serious, where a rocky point bends the Pacific into long, peeling right-hand waves. These clean, orderly walls of water roll in from distant swells and offer thrilling rides for the rare souls willing to wrestle their massive surf planks through the break. The cliffs loom close, the water runs deep, and the ocean feels like it’s watching.

FBI Field Report - Interview Record
Interview with Dr. Calvin H. Rowe, 54, Marine Biologist
“The ocean always takes people in bunches. The data proves that. There are literally millions of bodies given to the sea or taken by it. You can’t deny the data. We are in some ways just a bowl of popcorn, and oceans have big hands.”
When asked if recent events exceed historical norms, Dr. Rowe replied: “It's not a matter of if it's satiated yet. My theory is you can’t run from it either. If our best land predators - crocodiles, snakes - can hunt in their world, you’d better believe their best can hunt in ours.”
Subject declined to provide methodological detail and ended the interview upon observing incoming swell conditions.
